GUD is an official 501(c)(3) that inspires and educates high school and middle school females on self, legal, and cyber defense techniques. Through professional MMA training, girls will learn how to more effectively handle uncomfortable public situations. This organization has over 100 members and will create a community of courageous and confident girls.
GUD recently was published on DelawareOnline. A self-defense lesson under Rebecca Evans was highlighted along with the different members of the organization. We also recently hosted speaker event in partnership with GFB. Maggie Nelson and Khushi Afre spoke about how to handle varied workforce cultures as a woman. Check out the link to the article!
WHAT EXACTLY DO WE DO?
We offer lessons from self-defense to cyber defense. We teach people about identifying hostile situations, how to de-escalate hostile situations, and how to defend yourself. The topics cover problems that happen in public as well as online. GUD also has workshops through Girl Scouts and live lessons from a certified MMA trainer. For cyber defense, we teach topics like how to take safety precautions on social media, how to identify if a person is real or fake, and how to avoid being hacked. We embed legal defense throughout the various lessons!
We have workshops, training sessions, speaker events, and clubs. Each month, GUD is implementing a workshop for K-5 where high school martial arts students have a volunteering opportunity where they can teach younger people simple self-defense moves. Throughout Delaware, we have clubs at various schools which follow our mission in a more centralized setting. Club leaders teach our curriculum on how to stay safe online, in public, and how to legally protect yourself. Spread our mission and increase our reach by starting a club today!
